TVS Motor stock surges ovre 7% on strong
March 2018 sales
TVS Motor Company Limited (TVSM) reported
a strong volume performance across all segments, logging growth of 27% yoy in
March 2018. The company sold 3, 26,659 vehicles in March 2018 against 2, 56,341
vehicles in March 2017.
Three wheeler volumes more than doubled in
March 2018, motorcycles and scooters grew 40% yoy and 20% yoy respectively.
After seeing weak or single-digit growth in 11 months of the current financial
year (11MFY18), mopeds staged a comeback with a 13% yoy volume growth. However,
it needs to be seen if the trend is sustainable, hence we will keep an eye on
growth trend of the moped segment in the months to come.
The next few months could see benefits of
low base kicking in, helping moped sales volume growth. During the quarter
Q3FY18, TVSM launched the Apache RTR 310, which could have propelled motorcycle
sales volumes in March 2018. Exports, which contribute 18% to total volumes
were up 55% yoy, while domestic sales were up 23% yoy.
ICICI Bank clarifies on report of probe
by ED; Stock slips over 6%
Shares of ICICI Bank is trading lower by
6% on the BSE. The bank has clarified on news item which appeared in the
Business Standard newspaper on April 2, 2018, captioned “ED initiates enquiry
into ICICI- Videocon loan case”.
It has not received any communication from
the Enforcement Directorate enquiring about the loan it gave to Videocon Group,
ICICI bank said in the BSE filing.
BHEL bags Rs4,400cr order for
Supercritical Power Plant in UP
Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has
bagged a major order for setting up a 1x660 MW supercritical thermal power
plant in Uttar Pradesh.
Valued at approximately Rs4, 400cr, the
order has been placed on BHEL by Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd
(UPRVUNL).
BHEL has been a major partner in the power
development program of Uttar Pradesh. Significantly, over 70% of the state’s
power generating capacity, aggregating to more than 17,800 MW, has been
installed by BHEL. Notably, 7,210 MW, which is 92% of the total thermal
capacity addition during the last 6 years in the state, has been contributed by
BHEL.
Hero MotoCorp reports highest ever
monthly sales in March 2018, stock up 2.6%
Hero MotoCorp Limited (HMCL), the world’s
largest two-wheeler manufacturer, reported sales of 7, 30,473 vehicles in March
2018, a growth of 20% yoy. The company had sold 6, 09,951 vehicles in March
2017. The volume number reported by HMCL was significantly higher than the
street estimate of 6, 70,000. This was the highest ever monthly sales number
reported by the company till date.
The company closed the fiscal year (FY18)
with a volume of 75.8 lakh units. This too was the highest annual volume figure
for the company. The company commenced construction of its eighth manufacturing
facility in March 2018 at Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh. With this facility,
HMCL’s total installed capacity will go up from 92 lakh units currently to 1.1
crore units. HMCL has lined up four new launches in FY19; two motorcycles
(Xtreme 200R and XPulse) and two scooters
Dr. Reddy’s files NDA for anti-migraine
candidate
Dr Reddy's has announced that its
subsidiary Promius Pharma has filed a new drug application (NDA) for its
anti-migraine treatment candidate DFN-02.
DFN-02 is a novel intranasal spray formulation
which contains Sumatriptan 10mg and Intravail which contains DDM i.e.
1-O-n-Dodecyl-β-D-Maltopyranoside, a chemically synthesizable transmucosal
absorption enhancement agent.
This combination makes absorption of
Sumatriptan in the blood circulation faster than the currently available
subcutaneous Sumatriptan. In the clinical trials, DFN-02 reported more rapid
absorption profile than commercially available intranasal Sumatriptan 20mg. The
safety and tolerability were also comparable to subcutaneous sumatriptan.
