Indian companies raised more than Rs 44,000 crore through issuance of shares on preferential basis in FY 2016-17, a dip of 12% witnessed over the previous fiscal as reported by a leading business agency.
The funds collected were used in business expansion, working capital requirements, general corporate purposes and refinancing of debt .
As per SEBI data, the funds raised through preferential allotment stood at Rs 44251 crore during 2016-17.
Funds are accumulated during 2016-17 were 12.39% lower as compared to 2015-16 when companies collected Rs 50,513 crore. In FY2016-17 there are 409 preferential allotments, while the number stood at 355 for the previous year.
January was the busiest month during the last fiscal, with firms raising Rs 8756 crore through the preferential allotment route, followed by May Rs (5218 crore), September (Rs 5718 crore) and October (Rs 5839 crore).
