After starting strongly in early trade, the benchmark equity market is trading in the negative zone. As on 11:33 AM, the BSE Sensex was down 70 points at 33,070 and the NSE Nifty slipped 15 points to 10,212.
The S&P BSE MidCap Index rose 0.27% and the S&P BSE SMallCap Index advanced 0.35%.
Zee, Tata Motors, Ambuja, L&T, IndusInd Bank gained the most on Nifty50.
Tata Steel, Bharti Airtel, HCL Tech, Vedanta, and Cipla were the top losers.
Some buying was seen in auto, FMCG and media sectors, while PSU banking, financial services, metal, pharma, realty, financial services, IT and Nifty bank sectors showed weakness on the NSE.
India VIX rose by 5.84% at 14.34 level.
Out of 1,984 stocks traded on the NSE, 1,070 advanced, 555 declined, and 359 remained unchanged today.
A total of 90 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while seven stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
