Capitalstars Updates: Gap up opening seen on D-Street; SGX Nifty up 13 pts: 27 Oct 2017

Indian Indices:

Indian benchmark indices are likely to start November series F&O expiry on positive note, tracking bullish cues from Nifty futures on the Singapore Stock Exchange and firm trend across global peers. SGX Nifty is trading @10387, +13 points.

Equity benchmarks as well as Midcap index continued to end at record closing high on Thursday, with the Nifty rallying 6 % in October series (the highest ever gains in a series in 2017).

Global Market:

• U.S. stocks closed higher on Thursday as the latest set of earnings reports gave investors a positive surprise.
• Asian shares gained on Friday as technology shares were boosted by upbeat earnings from US tech giants while the euro hovered near 3 month low against the dollar after the ECB extended its stimulus

o Net profit up 25.1 % at Rs 1002.7 cr
o Gross NPA at 1.82 % from 0.97 %, Net NPA At 1.04 % from 0.39 %(QoQ)
o Provisions at Rs 447 cr from Rs 285.7 cr (QoQ)

• Biocon - Weak results:
o Rev at 969 cr vs poll 1027.1 cr
o EBITDA at 183 cr vs poll 233 cr
o Margins at 19% Vs poll 22.7%

• United Spirits - Good Results: 
o PAT up 85% at 153 cr Vs est 96.4 cr
o EBITDA up 56% @ 319 cr
o OPM at 16.1% vs 9.9%

• Crompton Greaves Consumer - Good Results:
o Revenues up 9.8 % at 960 cr. Net profit up 24.56 % at Rs 71 cr
o EBITDA @at 121 cr from Rs 101.5 cr, Margin at 12.60 % from 11.61 %

Trend in FII flows: The FIIs were net buyers of Rs -375.63 the cash segment on Friday while the DIIs were net sellers of Rs -523.54 as per the provisional figures.
