Shares of GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals BSE 2.87 % (up 2.86 percent), Cipla BSE 2.56 % (up 2.23 percent), Cadila Healthcare BSE 1.18 % (up 1.47 percent), Piramal Enterprises (up 0.68 percent) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries BSE 0.61 % (up 0.62 percent) were gaining in Thursday's trade.
The Nifty Pharma index was trading 0.57 per cent up at 9,399 around 11:05 am (IST). Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was 7 points down at 10,289, while the BSE Sensex was 70 points at 32,972.
Dr. Reddy's Laboratories BSE -1.13 % (down 1.07 percent), Divi's Laboratories BSE -0.55 % (down 0.48 percent) and Lupin BSE -0.63 % (down 0.34 percent) were losing in trade around that time.
Most of the IT stocks, including MindTree BSE -4.18 % (down 4.77 percent), HCL Technologies BSE -3.80 % (down 3.49 percent), Tata Elxsi BSE -2.17 % (down 2.08 percent), Oracle Financial Services Software BSE -0.79 % (down 1.47 percent) and Infibeam Incorporation (down 1.18 percent) were losing in Thursday's trade.
Shares of Bharat Petroleum Corporation BSE 3.56 %, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation BSE 2.53 %, Indian Oil Corporation BSE 1.92 %, Larsen & Toubro, HindalcoBSE 1.37 % and State Bank of India BSE -0.43 % were trading as the top gainers in the Nifty50 index.
However, Indiabulls Housing Finance, Power Grid Corporation BSE -1.97 %, HCL Tech BSE -3.80 %, HDFC, ICICI Bank BSE -3.04 % and Asian Paints BSE -1.34 % were the top losers among the Nifty stocks.
On the NSE, 897 stocks were advancing, compared with 711 stocks declining and 359 stocks remaining unchanged.
