Indian equity benchmarks continued to trade steady, holding on to its opening gains, while the Nifty continued to hold 10,350.
IndusInd Bank, Infosys, Infratel, Bajaj Finance and Tech Mahindra were the top gainers, while Zee Entertainment, HUL, Hindalco, Tata Steel, Adani Ports lost the most in the Nifty50 index.
On the political front, Winter Session of Parliament will be held from December 15 to January 5.
At 11 AM, the S&P BSE Sensex was trading at 33,680, up 92 points, while the broader Nifty50 was ruling at 10,383, up 35 points.
The BSE Midcap and the S&P BSE Smallcap indices hit their respective new highs on the BSE on Friday, following an extending rally in infrastructure, auto and public sector banks.
Some buying was seen in auto, IT, PSU Bank, realty and FMCG sectors, while metal and media sectors showed weakness on the NSE.
India VIX slipped by 1.2% at 13.69 level.
Out of 1,981 stocks traded on the NSE, 1,106 advanced, 510 declined, and 365 remained unchanged today.
A total of 72 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while five stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
Swaraj Engines rallied 16.5% intraday Friday on the back of buyback proposal.
Shares of Praj Industries climbed 17% to their 52-week high after the company’s said in an interview it is expecting more international orders in the future.
Shares of Mahindra & Mahindra rose 1% after a report said the company's arm Mahindra Electric has tied up with Uber to supply electric vehicles.
